Yummers. Really great food. Quantity and quality. BYOB is pretty cool too. The Naan was bomb as well as the tikki masala. We sat outside and was fun to people watch. Highly recommend if you're in the mood for Indian food. Go hungry for sure.

OMG!!! Devoured the Nihari and naan. Nothing fancy at all and just the way I like it. Better than any of the establishments I frequented in Edison, NJ. Though I question the recent addition of two flat screen TVs to display your order number; kinda 'techno-tacky' and looks like it should be used for Keno nights in a casino in Reno. But hey, as long as I get my Nihari and naan, it's ok.

So, don't expect to get any service here! It's confusing as the place has 3-star restaurant aspects about it, but the "order here" sign is hard to miss, and all the workers chattering and walking around is a bit discomforting. However, this is a great place for take-out if all you want is plain, Pakistani food. We walked in here without really looking at reviews, so our visit was kind of too awkward as we didn't know what exactly to think of the place. Doesn't look like a hole-in-the-wall joint, but it serves like one.

Really good food for a fair price - you can easily feed 3 people on $30-$40. Nice, fresh flavors and spiciness is just right. Tandoori fish is my favorite. Atmosphere is very loud and chaotic (we were there on a Saturday @ 7 PM) and it's hard to get a table, but once you manage to snag a table and start eating, it all seems to fade away. It's kind of cool to have the option to BYOB, but then again, you run the risk of having to sit next to a table of people partying on a 12 pack of Budweiser.

I love this place! Living near many indian restaurants in the haight I don't go to Pakwan as often as I would like. This week we made the bus ride and man was it worth it! The best chicken tikka masala and naan bread in the city... hands down!

YES, YES, OH YES YESSSSSSSSS. I'm half way round my night out with me mate - we've sinned, we've drunk stuff and now in the time honoured British night out we must eat CURRY. Having a man sandpapering the toilet whilst I am in there? No way Jose - (probably Akbar more like). Why not 5* - it's the Naan. Nip round to Mehfil, get fresh Naan there and leg it back here. We were transported back several years to nights out in Bradford. La recherche du temps perdu - let HIM eat cake, I will go for a curry every time. Oh Lord it was good. The pakoras, the onion bhaji, the curry, the fact that there was no alcohol - giving my liver a let up. Oh yes I WILL RETURN.

A tad greasy, sometimes. Loud, often. The rice can be clumpy too. But it's fast, cheap, and good. You can feel comfortable eating alone here, or when you bring a group, try their pretty large assortment of dishes. Simply, a great non-burrito place in the Burrito District.

Great food that's worth the fight. And believe me, when an awesome restaurant like Pakwan runs on a "first come, first serve" basis, a battle for a table is bound to happen. Pakwan is an oasis of cheap and tasty Pakistani food. They do their chicken tikka masala justice, and you can't go wrong with their naan. Fast service and BYOB/W. No wonder this place draws serious crowds. On another note: For all of you Mission haters, I think there's an Indian fusion restaurant up in Pac Heights. It definitely screams authenticity...

Nothing memorable here. Cheap decent food at decent price.

There is stiff competition in the under-$10/entree indian/pakistani food market. I can't say that any one place is better than the rest, but if I could - then this Pakwan joint would be it. My favorites here include the Aachar chicken and the Biryani. The aachar chicken might be a little spicy for most - but it can be easily overcome with some yogurt on the side, or just larger chunks of naan.

This place is great if you're in the Mission, craving Indian food, and don't want to dish out a lot of cash. We got a lot of food for under $20. It was good, filling, quick. Drinks are "get it from the cooler yourself" so make note of that, or you won't get it when they put your food out. It's also self-service, so grab a seat and wait for it to pop up on the counter, then go get it! Between two entrees, rice, naan and drinks, it came to under $20. Not bad at all!

UH OH! SF Food Inspection Score: 66!!! That's horrible.... This place was really good, dare I say great! But damn that score is bad. I really enjoyed the fish (not sure of the name) but it was really tasty. I'll definitely go there again but I don't think that I can go back until the score is better. As if Naan n curry is better...which it kind of is cuz it's byob for free and free chai. but that score...i'm just so upset.

Its a BYOB place with good Indian food. I tried the kababs and palak chicken. It was good. in weekends keep some time if you want to come to this place because you may have to wait 15-20 min for a place. And if you forget to bring an opener just ask your server

I only had the Lassi here, as I awaited Picaro to open at noon for a tapas brunch. But it was lovely, and mellow, and cool and creamy and delicious. I was tempted to stay here for lunch, but deferred to my friend's tapas craving and pre-existing reservation. I'll be back to check out the food; it smelled awesome.

Great Pakistani food. It's rare that a restaurant can do good BBQ and good "curry" but this one does a decent job - although a little oily. Guy at register was cool and helpful. Recommended to go for a wet dish (cheaper) than having the lamb tandoori plus the other BBQ items we were getting. Under $30 for 2, not complaining.

How does this place have such good reviews? Surely you guys must've tried out the better indian places just down the road? I ordered butter chicken and tea and both were distinctly below par. I've had better, way better. Only reason I am giving it 2stars instead of 1 is because it's cheap. But then you get the quality you pay for. Do yourself a favor and don't jude indian/Pakistani cuisine on the basis of this place and try the other places around the block.
